Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness

Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness 8-week Mindfulness Course in Duns
Supported by Blackhill Windfarm Community Fund
Report
The trustees of Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness wish to begin this report by
expressing their gratitude for the grant funding provided that has enabled
the charity to stage two free-of-charge 8-week mindfulness courses to the
public in the wider Duns catchment area. These courses would not have
taken place without the funding, and consequently, the individual and
community benefits obtained from the courses would not have been
available.
Our free-of-charge mindfulness courses were designed specifically to help
people over the age of 18 better manage the anxiety and stress which
affects their personal and professional life. Whilst everyone can be
susceptible to brief and situational anxiety and stress, if it is experienced
over an extended period of time, it can become chronic stress. This can
then persistently and negatively impact an individual’s physical and
mental health and well-being. This in turn can adversely, and seriously,
affect the family, social and occupational communities that the individuals
live within.
Through being a proven intervention and prevention of chronic stress, the
Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness free-of-charge courses have met the Blackhill
Windfarm Community Fund objectives of benefiting people in the local
community through improved mental wellbeing – specifically awareness,
emotional regulation, empathy, and communication – leading to stronger
personal and professional relationships, and a more harmonious
community.
Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness choose to hold its second Blackhill Windfarm
Community Fund 8-week Mindfulness Based Living Course in Duns, again
in the Southfields Community Centre. The course started on Tuesday 10th
September 2024 and finished on 12th November. Each weekly course
session was held in the evening and involved approximately 2½ hours of
mindfulness teaching.

The Future?
We look forward to collaborating with Blackhill Wind Farm Community
Fund on future courses to benefit the wellbeing of the public in the
Blackhill Wind farm Community Fund area.
The Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness trustees believe we have shown there is an
appetite among people living in this area for enhancing their mental
health and wellbeing through the many life transforming benefits an 8
week mindfulness course provides (increased self-awareness, self
confidence, emotional self-regulation and resilience).
The Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness trustees wish to apply again to the Blackhill
Wind Farm Community Fund for funding to hold another two 8-week
mindfulness courses in Duns during 2026 – January 2026 and September
