This funding request relates to three proposals.
Firstly, our next performance at DunsPlayFest 2024 is entitled ‘Landscapes, people and place.’ The
landscapes might be physical, geographical, or emotional. We are seeking funding for the
publication of an anthology of the pieces to be performed. This will be available to the audience as
a memento that they can take away and reflect on at their leisure.
Secondly, we would like to produce a second anthology of other previously unpublished pieces that
might be of interest to the audience. These would be available for a small donation. We are looking
for funding to cover publication costs of 100 copies of each of these 36-page items.
Finally, growing research-based evidence illustrates the potential for writing to improve wellbeing.
Since the 1980s studies have been published which demonstrate that creative writing benefits
physical and emotional health. However, public performance is something the group still finds
challenging. We are looking for funding to engage a drama coach to provide support and guidance
through a series of three short two-hour workshops in the run up to our performance. Hopefully
this will give us the much-needed confidence we require and make our appearance at DunsPlayFest
May 2024 a success.

- Organisation Name: Word Weavers
- Activities: We are Word Weavers, a small creative writing group who first met at a Writing for Wellbeingproject in 2017 part funded by the Blackhill Windfarm Fund. This was an innovative project and thefirst of its kind in Berwickshire. One of the objectives of the original project was to empowerparticipants to develop their emotional wellbeing and to continue writing. Since 2017 we haveproduced several anthologies of our work and performed our pieces at the DunsPlayFest. Followingour last DunsPlayFest appearance we were invited to read our pieces for the Talking Newspaper. This went out to the visually impaired community in Berwickshire and beyond. We hope to repeatthis after DunsPlayFest 2024. These activities have been entirely self-funded.As we are not a constituted group and have no bank account A Heart for Duns, who are a ScottishCharity and a Development Trust, have agreed to act as an umbrella organisation to hold andmanage funds on our behalf. They will maintain an auditable record of all transactions.
